Polar Seafood is a strong supplier of Greenland Halibut, also known as Black Halibut. The Greenland halibut (Reinhardtius Hippoglossoides) is an Arctic fish from the North Atlantic seas. It lives in the deep, cold waters off the coast of Greenland and Canada.

Habitat
Greenland halibut can be found in small numbers at depths of less than 100 meters although most are caught near the sea bottom at depths of between 200 to 2000 meters. Fish is caught by means of long-lines  ( as in the picture) trawl and gill-nets. Polar Seafood is actively involved in catching, processing and freezing immediately after catch ensuring excellent freshness and firm meat.

Suitable for large variety of serving suggestions
Thanks to the low temperatures of its habitat, the growth rate is slow, yielding firm meat with an excellent flavour and relatively fatty consistency. Greenland Halibut comprises dense, white meat and a sweet rich taste. This fish has few bones and is amenable to a large number of cooking presentations.
