King Crabs (Paralithodes camtschatica) from Polar Seafood are proceesed at Berlevåg Kongekrabbe, a King Crab factory in which Polar Seafood has active involvement. Berlevåg Kongekrabbe is strategically located on the coast of Finnmark in Norway, close to the rich King Crab fishing grounds and is one of the few organisations specialising in King Crab production. The local fishing fleet ensures high quality raw King Crabs are processed into top quality products.

This is a meticulous process and every one of the thousands of individual crabs received is checked.
Habitat
Norwegian King Crab lives in the southern Barents Sea at 400-500 m depth. It eats benthic fauna and flora of many kinds. King Crab can weigh up to 8 kg and have a shield width of 23 cm.

The raw King Crab shell has a very dark red colour but when it is boiled it takes on a delicate orange-red colour. King Crab is a good source of protein, it is low in fat and regarded worldwide as a delicacy. King Crab is highly versatile and suited to a variation of menus.
