Snow Crab (Chionoecetes opilio) is becoming increasingly popular, not least due to its low fat and calories but high protein levels. It has much in common with the larger King Crab possessing fine white meat with a firm texture and delicate flavor which characterises the Snow Crab.

Our Snow Crabs are caught by small fishing boats using the traditional method of crab pots before being processed into sections at our snow crab factory. The sections are packed and delivered in 9 kg net weight cartons and marketed under the Polar Seafood brand.

Our Snow Crab sections are frozen in brine and graded into various sizes according to meat content, size of sections, and cleanliness of shell. The most common Snow Crab size produced at our factory is the well known 5-10oz with a meat content of 85-90%.

Depending on customer demand and as a result of the many qualities of Snow Crab we produce, Polar Seafood offers Snow Crab sections for both direct sales to the food business as well as product for meat extraction at reprocessing facilities worldwide.

The main season for our Snow Crab operation goes from July until December but we have the capability to offer Snow Crab sections all year around.

Suitable for large variety of serving suggestions
Snow Crab is very versatile in the kitchen. It is popular to eat just as it comes, perhaps wish a squeeze of lemon and dash of mayonnaise, but is also well suited to salads, soups, and many other dishes.
