Retailers in different countries have decided to develop their own uniform standard for quality assurance and food safety. The following standards are a result of these decisions:
Polar Salmon has accomplished certification in accordance with BRC standard as well as IFS standard.
Additionally the standard The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has been established. The MSC standard is an environmental standard for sustainable fishery based upon the FAO Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and is known by its characteristical blue logo. The purpose of the logo is to help consumers choose companies which support sustainable fisheries. The logo can only be used with MSC certified products and by MSC certified companies.
Polar Salmon has accomplished certification in accordance with MSC on some species and is working to obtain certification on other species.
